Why do we feel uncomfortable with technology?
A lot of us don’t have a good feeling when it comes to technology. not only because it doesn’t smell like anything (or shall we call it non-tangible experience ) but also because technology is developing at such a high pace that catching up with it and understanding it, is very difficult. To not understand it, is to develop a feeling of resentment toward it.
Let’s look at farming as an analogy here and how we have developed tools and machinery. We have made tools out of wood and stones to ease our life working on the land. Tools like fork spades have changed our lifestyle of working on the land centuries ago, instead of using our hands and body, we hold a tool in our hand to engage in activities with the earth. Later on, we brought machinery to ease our chores even at a higher level and that has changed our lifestyle around farming enormously. In a couple of years, we gonna use autonomous agriculture machinery instead.
The truth is that it is always at the edge of our comfort zone when we feel frustrated. when we need to adapt to a new zone. If we don’t understand it, we don’t adapt easily. We can not work with it and that lead to feeling of resentment and blaming. of course, I understand today's technology around any subject matter is complicated to digest and it needs a lot of thinking and processing. But we have finally built a society that brought us safety and security and as a result of that, we have had time to invest our energy to thinking deeper and developing something of technology. At the same time, we’ve got more addicted to thinking than acting. we have created situations where people would sit and think rather than move and act and connect with their surroundings.
